Animal acupuncture
Commonly potential patients ask me, “Do I have to be Buddhist or do I have to believe in acupuncture for it to work?” My answer is always the same, “Animals have no cognitive recognition and yet they feel better.”
Animal acupuncture is very much like human acupuncture, same meridians, different layout, but it works the same.
Common things that animals get treated for:
Musculoskeletal problems: arthritis or spinal disc pathology
Skin problems: lick granuloma, hot spots
Respiratory problems: as feline asthma
Gastrointestinal problems
Anything that causes discomfort for the animal (structural or foreign)
Acupuncture is one of the safest medical approaches for animals. Side effects are rare. An animal’s condition may seem worse for up to 48 hours after a session. Other animals may become sleepy or lethargic for 24 hours after acupuncture. These effects are an indication that some of the physiological changes are happening, and are most often followed by an improvement in the animal’s condition. So the real questions is…. how can you get an animal to sit still? Just put in Yin Tang (the calming point between the eyebrows) and they fall asleep for 10 minutes.
